Three Haag forensic experts will present at the upcoming PLRB Claims Conference, taking place March 22–25 in National Harbor. You can also find our team on the tradeshow floor, booth 803.
Below is a preview of the sessions led by Haag’s forensic consultants.
Fred Campagna, Director of Forensic Meteorology
Forensic Meteorology: Uses & Limitations
Presenting with Sompo and Hinshaw & Culbertson
This session introduces the rapidly expanding field of forensic meteorology and its role in evaluating weather-related insurance claims. The presentation reviews primary weather data sources, including storm reports, surface observations, and radar, and explains how these datasets are used in storm damage investigations.
The session also examines important limitations of meteorological data, particularly radar-based estimates of wind speeds, hail size, and hail swaths. Real-world case studies will illustrate how forensic meteorology can complement on-site inspections and help resolve disputed claims.
Perspectives from a claims executive, legal counsel, and a Certified Consulting Meteorologist will provide practical insight into how meteorological analysis supports claims resolution.
Ahmad Elhajj, Forensic Engineer
Construction Defects: It’s [Not] All Bad!
Presenting with Kennedys and United Fire Group
This session focuses on the cross-disciplinary nature of construction defect claims and litigation. Panelists will explore key decision points in the claims process, including when to retain technical or legal experts, conduct testing, or pursue mediation or arbitration.
Attendees will review methods for defect characterization, identifying potentially responsible parties and understanding their overlapping roles throughout the investigation and discovery process. The program also examines the “four Ds” of construction defect litigation and how claims teams can develop a clear understanding of the facts in a cost-effective way.
The session concludes with a mock case scenario demonstrating how engineers, attorneys, and claims professionals collaborate during the defense of a construction defect claim.
Amber Prom, Director of Curriculum, Forensic Engineer
Dings, Dents & Dilemmas: Differentiating Functional vs. Cosmetic Damage and Applying Coverage
Presented with RENFROE
This presentation is designed for adjusters handling hail damage claims on metal roofing systems in both residential and commercial properties.
Haag will detail how hail impacts affect metal roofing and why understanding these mechanisms is critical when evaluating potential damage. While Renfroe Training will then discuss the claims handling process, including pre-inspection preparation and coverage analysis. The session also reviews policy endorsements that can significantly influence coverage determinations for metal roof claims.
