Guest speaker: Edward Roberts, Director of Fire investigation Services with Haag Global. Edward will also be providing the adjusters with continuing education credits for AL, FL, and MS.
Topic: Ethics for the claim’s professional and Investigation of structure fires.
Adjuster Round Table: Will be from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm to discuss Xactimate® X1 before each meeting. We will have topics each week to include property and flood.
Our next adjuster round table will feature two of the most experienced flood people in the industry. Fred Walsh and Ryan Barkdull will be discussing Flood Claim Service and Review.
Several topic’s will be discussed from the customer service, understanding the dec page, underwriting flags, and reviewing errors from the recent events, be prepared to learn from the two of the most flood knowledgeable men in the industry.

January Meeting Minutes
The MCA held their meeting on January 11,2022 at Judy’s Place in Mobile, Alabama. We had a great adjuster round table discussion on Xactimate X1 estimating software. (Name soon to be changing) from 5 -6 pm before the meeting. Several topics were discussed on how to set up claims, software to help label photos description and we had input from everyone.

January Speaker: Dr. Nick Rachel with The Orthopedic Group
Topic: Hand & Elbow
Dr. Rachel spoke on the most common injuries to the hand are carpal tunnel which is caused by repetitive motion of the fingers/hand. Sensory receptors. How to assign MMI and impairment ratings. Our main goal is to get the injured worker back to work as quickly as possible without restrictions. Anatomy of the fingertip to include the nail bed, nail plate, nail growth after an injury which could be delayed. Characteristics/considerations of a nail injury are patient specific, example, Patient age, occupation, needs, co-morbidity and the type of injury such as sharp, crush, or both. Soft tissue/bone loss. Treatment post injury with a goal to restore anatomy to the pad and nail. Injuries without soft tissue loss and treatment. Complications to include infection, stiffness, nail deformity, poor quality coverage and poor sensibility, etc.
Summary:
Nail bed and fingertip injuries: Common and varied
Treatment: Facilitated by knowledge of normal anatomy
Outcomes: Dependent on injury and treatment and 2–4-month recovery to return to FD work and MMI
