Jim A. Nettles, Jr, PE, is a Forensic Engineer with Haag, a Salas O’Brien Company. Based in Ormond Beach, Florida, Mr. Nettles has extensive experience in the design, analysis, and inspection and code compliance of multiple types of structures and materials including concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber. He has training and experience in premise liability and safety evaluations and their involved bio mechanics and human factor components.
Mr. Nettles has served as a Principal Engineer, responsible for preliminary assessment and final design coordination, review/approval shop drawings and erection/construction support for large commercial building projects using non- and load-bearing prestressed, precast concrete wall panels and plank. He has designed, analyzed, and inspected various types of bridges including highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges, earth-retaining structures, foundations, and environmental structures. He also has experience in the design and analysis of various types of bolted and welded connections.
Mr. Nettles earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He is licensed Professional Engineer in 20+ states. His memberships include National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES). He is a licensed remote pilot for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).
