Jim A. Nettles, Jr., P.E., is a Forensic Engineer with Haag Engineering Co. Based in Ormond Beach, FL, Mr. Nettles has extensive experience in the design, analysis, and inspection of various types of highway and rail road bridges, including single to multi-span, P/S concrete I-beam, spread box and adjacent box beam (composite/non-composite), steel girder, curved steel girder, and timber structures as well as environmental, residential and low-rise commercial structures. He is familiar with L.F.D, L.R.F.D and A.S.D methodologies and A.A.S.H.T.O., ACI, PCI, AISC, AREMA, ASCE-7 and state (PA, NJ) Turnpike design codes/specifications.
Mr. Nettles most recently worked as a Principal Engineer where he was responsible for preliminary and final review/approval of design calculations and shop drawings for large scale single and multiple-story commercial, government and residential prestressed precast concrete wall panel and plank building projects. Prior to that, Mr. Nettles designed, analyzed, and inspected of various types of bridges including highway, pedestrian and rail road bridges. He designed prestressed concrete wall panels and accompanying welds/connections as a Design Service Manager, and was responsible for highway and railway bridge analysis, design, and inspection projects for state DOTs as a Project Engineer.
Mr. Nettles earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He is licensed Professional Engineer in 31 states. His memberships include National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES).
