Jim A. Nettles, Jr., P.E., is a Forensic Engineer with Haag Engineering Co. Based in Ormond Beach, Florida, Mr. Nettles has extensive experience in the design, analysis, and inspection of low-rise commercial prestressed concrete tilt-up buildings, various types of bridges (single, multi-span, P/S concrete, steel and timber) as well as foundations, retaining walls, and environmental structures. He is familiar with A.S.D., L.F.D, and L.R.F.D design methodologies and A.A.S.H.T.O., ACI, PCI, AISC, AREMA, ASCE-7, State and Turnpike design codes/standards/specifications.
Mr. Nettles has served as a Principal Engineer, responsible for preliminary assessment of projects and final review/approval of design calculations and shop drawings for pre-stressed, pre-cast concrete wall panels and plank on single and multiple-story commercial, government and residential building projects. He has designed, analyzed, and inspected various types of bridges including highway, pedestrian and rail road bridges. Mr. Nettles has also designed precast prestressed concrete wall panels, plank and accompanying welded/bolted connections as a Senior Design Engineer. He was responsible for highway and railway bridge analysis, design, and inspection projects for state DOTs.
Mr. Nettles earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He is licensed Professional Engineer in 31 states. His memberships include National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES). He is a Haag Certified Inspector- Residential Roofs and Commercial Roofs, and is a licensed remote pilot for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).
