Steven Mertens, PE, is a licensed structural engineer with more than 10 years of experience performing complex structural design, analysis, evaluation, and investigation services across a wide range of commercial, industrial, residential, environmental, and government projects. His expertise includes the design and analysis of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures, as well as structural assessments of existing facilities, repair design, construction oversight, and the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates. He is highly skilled in structural modeling and analysis software, including RISA 3D, SAP2000, and Nastran, and has extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

As a Structural Engineer, Mr. Mertens has contributed to more than 120 projects, ranging from building and foundation systems to bridge rehabilitation and large-scale infrastructure developments. His background also includes transportation engineering and roadway design, giving him a broad understanding of structural performance, constructability, and rehabilitation. Mr. Mertens holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin.
