Jay Johnson is a Large Equipment Loss Consultant with Haag, a Salas O’Brien Company, bringing more than 30 years of experience in forensic engineering, fire investigation, equipment failure analysis, and complex loss consulting. Throughout his career, he has partnered with insurers, attorneys, and corporate clients to investigate large and technically challenging losses involving electrical, electronic, and industrial systems. His expertise includes fire and explosion investigations, equipment testing and analysis, litigation support, and risk assessment, making him a trusted resource for resolving high-exposure claims.
Prior to joining Haag, Mr. Johnson founded and led a nationally recognized forensic consulting firm serving insurance and legal clients across the country. He has directed hundreds of complex fire and loss investigations and provided expert witness services in support of claim resolution and litigation. Earlier in his career, he held leadership and technical roles with consulting and defense firms where he managed critical engineering operations, failure analysis projects, and technical consulting engagements. Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Business & Management from St. Mary’s University and is a Certified Fire Investigator, licensed Private Investigator, and NFPA 1033-compliant investigator.
